InfeRed utilizes the Just Blaze produced track, Exhibit C by Jay Electronica to showcase how HEAVY he really gets. Indianapolis MC, InfeRed, has been likened to Lupe Fiasco, Elzhi, and Black Thought.
HEAVY is a sort of series of quick twitches of his lyrical muscles, flexing the kind brawn he shows on an average day.
Looks like Lupe Fiasco really wants to do a project with Jay Elec…
“I reached out to him a couple of days ago with some real serious ideas,” Lupe said. ” ‘Let’s put a program together. Something that works out and makes sense for the both of us.’ He’s a very talented MC. One of the few MCs that I actually listen to what they’re saying. I don’t listen to 98 percent of the rappers out there. But he’s one of the MCs I listen to and I’m inspired to do so. A collaboration is in the works.”
I LOVE the original version (See the original version again after the jump) but this video is amazing. Seriously one of the better videos i’ve ever seen as far as its connection to the song. the entire video you feel disoriented. you feel, not just as a viewer but a participant, like you’re messed up (on drugs, emotionally, w/e). really beautifully done. Vodpod videos no longer available.
Peace, and the constant pursuit of HAPPINESS and much LOVE. (more…)
it’s ironic, creative, original, current, old, fun, nerdy, cool, structured, hard, simple, complex.
i love it. this dude‘s first album is called King Warrior Magician Lover.
plus, we share our second name.
wow….two of my favorite artists of 2009 (drake and francis). i might be making a trip to michigan or illinois…anyone in??

I’m so excited about this…super collab between James Mercer (from The Shins) and Danger Mouse (from Gnarls Barkley and producer of The Grey Album). This is seriously one of the greatest combinations i’ve dreamed would never happen. The album is due to come out March 9, 2010. Be ready for a storm. Broken Bells wiki
Here’s the first single “The High Road” (download after the jump)…
This is an interview touching on why he (as a white canadian dude) is embraced by the Hip Hop community, is a clear part of the new [urban folk™] (haha) movement (like KiD CuDi, Wale, Drake, Slaughterhouse…etc.), and has a successful alternative mixtape.
I just want to say it first here and now…in the next few years, you will see the mixtape (free ep, free album, samples/remixing other peoples songs projects) embraced by other musics not centralized to Hip Hop!! Watch.
If you don’t know about Colin Munroe you definitely need to download his mixtape… Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero mixtape (2008)
It features Drake, Wale, Black Milk, Mickey Factz, even Bob Dylan (remix…it’s INCREDIBLE!!!)
Based on the 2 or 3 tracks i’ve heard from this cat…he’s my new favorite (coming up) rapper…
Here’s a video from the interview with Angela Yee where he spits to “On Top Of The World”, which is the song he tried to get to Jay-Z for American Gangster. It’s worth a watch! Because too many people deny music based on the fact that most of it is terrible…this is bananas!!!!!
Here’s the vid from the same interview where he is denied by Jay and his entourage. Pretty inspiring actually imo.
if you haven’t heard any of his music…here’s the song “Lights Please” which I think is what eventually got him on with Jay-Z.
wow! you might remember Gil Scott Heron from alot of old spoken word type records in the 70s. he was sort of one of the reasons rapping happened, at least on record. this new cut from him sounds like a blues lyric form set to some super hard music. very very nice… Vodpod videos no longer available.
this is definitely in my top 3 freshest hip hop songs of 09. a video of Jay performing it live with Mos Def and Diddy and the song on youtube if you haven’t heard it, after the jump. jay electronica – exhibit c (iTunes)
tell me that cover isn’t fresh as a produce section!! actually do, because it is. this song goes so hard.
this is a pretty fresh indie band i just discovered through the Guilt By Association Vol. 2 project in which they covered “Africa” by Toto. i feel like the video tells the story pretty well with not too much performance shots and not too much “couple” shots. the video is for a project called 99DollarMusicVideos.com…i think they accomplished it better than any one else i’ve seen on the site.

Mr Hudson is having a remix contest for his next single Anyone But Him. The song is from his debut solo album Straight No Chaser on Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. It’s an incredible album but is only (legally) available in the homeland (read UK) currently. It gets released here tomorrow according to wikipedia though I can’t find really any other information on it. Please find a way to get it and immerse yourself in heartache.
If you’ve got what it takes you could feature on Mr Hudson’s next single ‘Anyway But Him’, which is set to be released in the new year – Kanye West features on the album version but it could be YOU on the digital release.
Mr Hudson is looking for fresh UK MCs to record their original verses onto an instrumental of the track. Whoever lays down the sickest 16 bars will get the chance to hit the studio with Mr Hudson and will feature on the song which will be digitally released on March 15th.
ENTRANTS
1. Download the ‘Anyone But Him’ MP3 Instrumental for free by registering your email address in the box below.
2. Write & Record your original rap over the Instrumental.
3. Submit your finished track to Mr Hudson’s Dropbox (see Right)
The entries will be judged by Mr Hudson & the best verses will be posted on Mr Hudson’s website & online profiles. The winner will get to record the final track in a professional studio with Mr Hudson.
You can enter as many times as you like.
Good Luck!
Anyway, the remix contest says it is for UK emcees, but I feel like if a rapper from elsewhere in the world submits something and it’s super ill…why would they deny it?? The original track features a Kanye West verse (which is dope in its own right and I don’t understand why they’d change it?..but)
So in the light of hope for the extension of personal expression…find the instrumental here and record your best translation of self absorbed jealousy in 16 bars.
Gravity Jones presents InfeRed’s 2009 mixtape “No Turn On Red.” MLKjr said, “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets, even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven played music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry.” Tony ‘InfeRed’ Graves feels his path is leading him to record and perform honest music. If it’s true that your soul should speak truest and loudest through your actions, midwest rapper InfeRed’s soul preaches through every line. In the vein of some of Hip-Hop’s most candid and ground breaking artists, Red works with a passion and dedication to his lyrics and each message they encompass. He is often likened to Jay-Z, Common, Royce Da 5’9, Elzhi, and, more recently, Wale. Download the mixtape, analyze the lyrics, scrutinize the songs, love it and hate it. Peace and much love.
Also, check it out, rate it, comment on it at datpiff.
Please spread it like wildfire!! Feel free to copy any of the links, artwork, music, burn it onto cds, whatever…just get it out there!! Electric grass roots style…
Also, please let us know what you think…
and while you’re at it check the official video for the single The Higher:
It’s actually a pretty long interview but i know you all dig lupe sort of like i dig lupe…so it’s interesting. really it’s mainly him talking about how he felt like he lost his passion (obviously, talking retirement and all) and recently got it back when going through his old mixtape catalogue. he feels like his old shit is still completely relevant and fresh today (which i would mostly agree with).
…it’s like, ‘yo, I was doing that back then?’ That record is almost 6 years old. And it’s still fresh, it still has meaning, and I forgot some of the lyrics so I’m like, ‘that metaphor was kind of crazy.’ It was just like, ‘am I doing that right now? Have I maintained that?…Why would I stray away and not come as hard on every record like I was doing before? That was real. Yeah, I’m gonna go back. I’m gonna go back into the studio and try to beat myself, try to take myself back to where I was.’
Wale talks about 4 (potential bp3) tracks Kanye flew in to play for Jay-Z before a show. he wanted a couple of them, specifically “A Star Is Born” for the intro to Attention Defecit (in stores now!! it’s pretty ill!!!)…i would have liked it better with Wale, don’t really like the Jay version HONESTLY.
Kanye producing “Let The Money Fall” for Wale, KiD CuDi, Drake…dope. could still come into fruition??
