InfeRed … HEAVY
InfeRed utilizes the Just Blaze produced track, Exhibit C by Jay Electronica to showcase how HEAVY he really gets. Indianapolis MC, InfeRed, has been likened to Lupe Fiasco, Elzhi, and Black Thought.
HEAVY is a sort of series of quick twitches of his lyrical muscles, flexing the kind brawn he shows on an average day.
InfeRed – HEAVY (Bandcamp listen/download)
InfeRed – HEAVY (Soundcloud listen/download)
HEAVY is the second song (previous: Dracula’s Reflection) from InfeRed’s song-a-week series until his forthcoming 2010 mixtape titled EARS OPEN is completely released. Each song features a unique piece of artwork inspired by the track.

InfeRed – Dracula’s Reflection
InfeRed – Dracula’s Reflection (Soundcloud)
InfeRed – Dracula’s Reflection (Bandcamp)
A track produced primarily by InfeRed, Dracula’s Reflection builds on an eerily vibrant MGMT sample (Future Reflections) and combines with a darkly introspective narrative. Indianapolis MC, InfeRed, has been likened to Lupe Fiasco, Black Thought, and recently Wale.
From InfeRed’s forthcoming 2010 mixtape titled Ears Open, Dracula’s Reflection is not a club track. It is an emotive and tonal experience, a sonic answer to the melancholic and beautiful transition of fall into winter.
InfeRed’s newest anthem, Dracula’s Reflection, features a thumping rhythm with staggered verses building towards a smoky, self-reflective plateau. Listen close; this song is an epic listening experience well worth your time.

lupe fiasco x jay electronica…”collaboration in the works”
Looks like Lupe Fiasco really wants to do a project with Jay Elec…
“I reached out to him a couple of days ago with some real serious ideas,” Lupe said. ” ‘Let’s put a program together. Something that works out and makes sense for the both of us.’ He’s a very talented MC. One of the few MCs that I actually listen to what they’re saying. I don’t listen to 98 percent of the rappers out there. But he’s one of the MCs I listen to and I’m inspired to do so. A collaboration is in the works.”
Lupe Fiasco also wanted to just do 3 albums…so…
Peace, and miss love.
KiD CuDi x MGMT x Ratatat – Pursuit Of Happiness (Alternate Version)
I LOVE the original version (See the original version again after the jump) but this video is amazing. Seriously one of the better videos i’ve ever seen as far as its connection to the song. the entire video you feel disoriented. you feel, not just as a viewer but a participant, like you’re messed up (on drugs, emotionally, w/e). really beautifully done.
Vodpod videos no longer available.
Peace, and the constant pursuit of HAPPINESS and much LOVE.

Kanye West…”CREATIVITY”
Kanye‘s most recent blog post…
funny, he’s changing the blog game now…
peace, and CREATIVE love.
fur in my cap…rob roy
just saw this at martian-blog. it is incredible.
it’s ironic, creative, original, current, old, fun, nerdy, cool, structured, hard, simple, complex.
i love it.
this dude‘s first album is called King Warrior Magician Lover.
plus, we share our second name.
peace, and roy love.
colin munroe…interview | performance | download
This is an interview touching on why he (as a white canadian dude) is embraced by the Hip Hop community, is a clear part of the new [urban folk™] (haha) movement (like KiD CuDi, Wale, Drake, Slaughterhouse…etc.), and has a successful alternative mixtape.
I just want to say it first here and now…in the next few years, you will see the mixtape (free ep, free album, samples/remixing other peoples songs projects) embraced by other musics not centralized to Hip Hop!! Watch.
If you don’t know about Colin Munroe you definitely need to download his mixtape…
Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero mixtape (2008)
It features Drake, Wale, Black Milk, Mickey Factz, even Bob Dylan (remix…it’s INCREDIBLE!!!)
He’s on my “what to look for” list.
Peace, and embrace new love.
j cole…rapping “on top of the world”
Based on the 2 or 3 tracks i’ve heard from this cat…he’s my new favorite (coming up) rapper…
Here’s a video from the interview with Angela Yee where he spits to “On Top Of The World”, which is the song he tried to get to Jay-Z for American Gangster. It’s worth a watch! Because too many people deny music based on the fact that most of it is terrible…this is bananas!!!!!
Here’s the vid from the same interview where he is denied by Jay and his entourage. Pretty inspiring actually imo.
if you haven’t heard any of his music…here’s the song “Lights Please” which I think is what eventually got him on with Jay-Z.
yea, i’ve got my eye on him…
Peace, and on top of the world love!
lupe fiasco…setting “the record” straight
via: Lu’space
Hi guys…Lupe here…
There seems to be a lot…A LOT…of misconception and misguided info floating around the net…
so for the sake of clarity and so that everyone (HOPEFULLY) will be on the same page let me reaffirm and debunk some things and just turn down the general noise that is surrounding Lupe Fiasco…thats me…
My Third Album is Titled “LASERS” not “WE ARE LASERS” or “LUPE.N.D.”…
MY NEXT ALBUM IS NOT TITLED “LUPE.N.D.”…
“LASERS” is NOT my last and final album…
“LASERS” does NOT drop in 2009…
“LASERS” does NOT HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET…
“SOLAR MIDNITE” is NOT a single off of “LASERS”…Nor was it intended to be apart of “LASERS” project…
“SOLAR MIDNITE” was exclusively done at the request of the Twilight: New Moon Team to be apart of their film, motion picture soundtrack and as a vehicle to promote the film… NOT TO PROMOTE “LASERS”…
I produced “SOLAR MIDNITE”
I’m not SELLING OUT by doing a song for NEW MOON…
People thought I “SOLD OUT” when I did “Kick, Push”…
I LOVE “SOLAR MIDNITE”…
“SOLAR MIDNITE” is NOT a HIP-HOP RECORD…
I’ve done ROCK or ROCK-like records on all of my previous albums…i.e. ” The Instrumental” “Hello/Goodbye”…
I HAVE A PUNK BAND CALLED JAPANESE CARTOON WHICH I SING IN AND PRODUCE FOR…
I DO NOT GO BY “LUPE FIASCO” WHEN I DO SONGS WITH JAPANESE CARTOON…NOR PERCIVAL FATS!!!…I USE MY REAL NAME…
Enemy Of The State was NOT, NOT, NOT meant to be an album…so stop (to the ungrateful among you) TREATING it like one…
Enemy Of The State was short for a reason…I DONT LIKE TO WASTE SONGS…AND IT SHOULDN’T TAKE YOU THAT LONG TO PROVE YOUR NICE IF YOUR “REALLY” NICE…
ENEMY OF THE STATE WAS WATERED DOWN ON PURPOSE…BECAUSE ITS NOT AN ALBUM…
MOST OF ENEMY OF THE STATE WAS DONE IN ONE DAY…
IF YOU DONT HEAR IT FROM ME OR DJ BUSY IT MAY NOT BE THE COMPLETE TRUTH!!!
Its more noise out there and stupid rumor but I really don’t have the stamina…
FNF UP…
peace, and just to set the record straight, love.

BET HHA cypher 3…Mos Def, Black Thought, Eminem
Wow…

props to nahright for the vid and mp3 link (featuring all 3 vids):
DJ Premier feat. Mos Def, Black Thought, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Buckshot, Crown Royyal, Joe Budden, Wale, Nipsey Hussle, Gsan & KRS-One – 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cyphers (10min megamix)
though, to me, the awards in general are an utter joke…this cypher feature they’ve got going is becoming legendary. ftr, these are possibly my 3 favorite rappers…mixed in with maybe 3 others. who’s in your top 3??
peace, and cypher love.
lupe…laser time
here’s a sweet series of recent blogs from codename #WEARELASERS…
apparently shining down was just the first leak but not the first single. perhaps army girl? (see below)
the following video:
…Lupe perform at an underpromoted fraternity Step competition Sprite was sponsoring on campus.
Here’s a video I took on my iPhone of Lupe performing his new joint “Fire”; he gives a minute-long intro explaining the track and what it has to do with MTV’s recently released 2009 Hottest MCs List. I believe this is the first time he’s performed the track.
Also, he performed a new track, “Army Girl”, off of his upcoming album Lasers. -WeDoItRight
He talks about how (as previously posted) he’s ok with the list being “right now”…but he’s gonna have to be “two straight solid years” where he’s “like 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 on that mothafucker.” he says he’s just going to put in the work.
i respect a hard worker more that about anything else…so…let’s go!
Peace, and laser love.

July/August beat tape…wSquared
Aiyo aiyo aiyo yo you!
I just got FL Studio back (after my approximately 8 month hiatus). I’ve been super inspired and made a bunch of music in the past few weeks. Here’s a beat tape of a selected 14 tracks for ya’lls.
Beat Tape July/August 2009
Features my segue into techno/dance music and my second edition of a remix of Jackz’ “Iller”. Pretty much all these are rough and only 16-24 bars at most but can dEfINITELY be expanded on.
Also…I went to Lollapalooza in Chi city this past Friday and will be posting a review-ish recap with some pictures soon.
Peace, and music love!
KiD CuDi…Make Her Say video
Here’s the Make Her Say (with Kanye West, Common, and Lady Gaga) music video. I love the look of this video. It’s clean and simple. The effect is clear and cleanly stated. I love their styles too.
Vodpod videos no longer available.
Speaking of music videos…we finished InfeRed’s The Higher video today! We’ll be posting it in the next week. Be ready to spread it around like cream on the bagel (dig?).
Peace, and good videos love.
Shining Down…lyrics & breakdown
Here’s a dope breakdown of Lupe Fiasco’s newest single Shining Down. It includes the lyrics and a breakdown of the verses / meaning. If you haven’t heard it, here it is on youtubes (but please iTunes it and download that shit)…
[Hook:]
Look up in the sky.
Now look up in the sky.
Look up in the sky
You thought I was down.
You thought I was gone.
Thought I wasn’t around.
You thought I left you alone.
But look up in the sky.
Just look up in the sky.
See that I’m everywhere
Everywhere
Shining down on you.[Verse #1:]
Well, well
Is that our little author?
Coming back; Humming his hymns, a little altered
Your attention, put back on the flow like the department of water
Taking off with the dough, like Little Walter
Chess? Yes. Baby, I’m Jerry Lawler
Rebel with a cause; outlaw with the lawyer
Judge, jury, like a loo;
Rap name Lupe, but my daddy named me Warrior
This is his memorialThe 1st verse finds Fiasco touching on his return because if you think about it, he has been on hiatus for a longer time period in comparison to the time between his 1st two albums. He’s back to put his twist back on hip hop and speak what needs to be spoken (“Coming back, humming his hymns, a little altered”, dope church references). He’s back to put our attention back on his flow like the water department’s attention is on the flow of water. He references Little Walter, a blues singer who used to be with Chess Records, but left (“taking off with the dough”) when it was discovered that Lou & Phil Chess, the owners of Chess Records, were allegedly stealing funds from their recording artists. It appears Lupe feels that Atlantic is doing the same (another Jay-Z attribute: subliminals). It would also seem that Lupe is staking his own claim as the king of this rap game (Jerry Lawler was a wrestler, quite frequently known as “The King”, which also ties into the “chess” line). The Jerry Lawler reference also ties into the next few lines as throughout his career, he was seen as a heel or bad guy (“rebel with a cause”) and he was known for going to court for his various divorces (“outlaw with the lawyer”). His rap name is “Lupe”, but his father named him “Wasulu”, which means “warrior”.
[Verse #2:]
[Auto-Tuned] No, I ain’t that nigga trying to get a liquor line
When I be scripting lines, want this petition signed
It says I’m sick of dying, sick of this prison time
I really love my people, I’m sick of pimping mine [Auto-Tuned]
Now if we autotune that shit
We can hear the songs from that opera groomed fat bitch
Telling us not to pursue it, just to shoo (shoe) it like a blacksmith
We’re trapped, and moving round in circles like it’s chapstick
And that’s the same encircled way of thinking that we chat with
We’ll wrap this, around your, head like the bandanas Fabolous
Used to wrap his hats with
Rather be in F.E.D.S. instead of National Geographics
Well, I’m not having itThe first couple of lines are merged with auto-tune, which is Lupe’s way of saying that if important lines are immersed in auto-tune, the true message will never be discovered and it will be the end (the fat lady singing (“the opera-groomed fat bitch”)) of hip hop. His return is spawned by his desire to contribute to hip hop and wrap his message around minds (“like the bandanas Fabolous used to wrap his hats with”) unlike the music that has been around in his absence. It is his plan to rebel against these popular trends in rap music as he feels people would rather read FEDS magazine, a magazine that glorifies rappers and gives breakdowns on gangs & inner-city violence, instead of educational material like National Geographic.
[Verse #3:]
So, I say hello and this is for the third time
To everybody out there who ain’t never heard mine
And if you have, then you know you ain’t never heard lying
Lu don’t move no cowards, you only heard lines
Not a facade cherisher, I’d rather have the scars
I don’t idolize America, I’m dancing with the stars
Uh huh. All of them? Yea, they are, too.
You look up and you see us shining down on you.In the final verse, he reintroduces himself for the third time (3rd LP, 3rd verse of this record), speaking to new fans and those who have been with him since the start. He is not one to tell lies nor put them in his records. The next line can be interpreted in a variety of ways (with a subtle Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz) reference thrown in):
“Lu don’t move (moo), no cowards (cow-words/cow-herds), you’ve only heard (heard) lines (lions)”
The lion/lying theme throughout the song is also a subtle dedication to Lupe’s father, Gregory Hamza Jaco (“Hamza” means lion in Arabic and the last thing Lupe’s father told him was “not to lie, tell Wasulu to tell the truth”. He doesn’t hide nor accept facades as he’d rather have “the scars” (which also a play on the word “disguise”) and finally, he completes the verse (and song) with two references to two world famous talent competition (American Idol & Dancing With The Stars).
~ Signed, The Greatest Rapper Alive (Lupe Fiasco’s L.a.s.e.r.s., in stores this December)
Peace, and shining down on love.
