Kanye‘s most recent blog post…
funny, he’s changing the blog game now…
peace, and CREATIVE love.
this needs to be spread around so more people see the FAKENESS that the Grammy’s have become!!
THE SINGLE most important performance of the night…they effed up the sound (yes they broadcasted it this way). in addition to that, whoever was the light technician that choreographed this was not real impressive to me…pretty obnoxious actually.
this performance was really beautiful and seemed to be a good dot of the “i” on the decade. i am just so completely fed up with the grammy’s. they are stuck in a broad “everyone likes what we think is pop” mindset. they are run by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences which “is a U.S. organization of musicians, producers, recording engineers and other recording professionals dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for music and its makers.” which sort of makes sense to me as far as the voting…but what about who sets up the performances, and the presentation, and the production, and writing of the show?? they obviously spend more time on certain pop acts opposed to others. also, the indie music scene is rapidly growing (especially with younger people…the ones who care about “pop music”) and i suspect will soon reach the point where it is competing on an even ground with the majors. will the academy continue to ignore us as they do now?…that would be a major mistake imo if they do.
just some things to think about…
peace and evolve love.
In the realm of hip-hop, Lupe Fiasco suggested Mos Def had the best album of the year (he’s up for two Grammys, including Best Rap Album) and that Drake should be up for Best New Artist (he only received a nod for Best Rap Solo Performance).
“I think he’s deserving of it,” Lupe said of Drake. “As many accolades as he can accumulate, pre-album, is a phenomenal task. I think that should be rewarded. He has the potential to do great things — not good or mediocre, but great things.”
I just wanted to post this up for those of you who respect Lupe but maybe don’t know about or aren’t ready for Drake. That’s right…that’s what i’ve been saying…not good or mediocre things for music and for hip hop…but GREAT things. watch out.
Also i like how highly Lupe talks about Mos.
mixtape daily interview video with Lupe after the jump…
peace, and respect introspection AND extrospection love.
so few hip hop artists have ever advanced.
a really important quote i.m.o.

i would pray and pray and beg god to deliver me from it…i knew i had great pain in my future. i used to pray to get delivered from pain, and then i suffered the worst pains to help me to grow.
not to mock his struggles…but how convenient…he went from predicting “pain” (generic), to “praying and praying” for it not to come or to be easy, to it being a lesson to learn and grow from. religion makes me laugh.
it kind of bothered me how funny he tried to be…but more how funny the crowd thinks he is.
peace, “i’m fuckin warhol,” love.
Hi guys…Lupe here…
There seems to be a lot…A LOT…of misconception and misguided info floating around the net…
so for the sake of clarity and so that everyone (HOPEFULLY) will be on the same page let me reaffirm and debunk some things and just turn down the general noise that is surrounding Lupe Fiasco…thats me…
My Third Album is Titled “LASERS” not “WE ARE LASERS” or “LUPE.N.D.”…
MY NEXT ALBUM IS NOT TITLED “LUPE.N.D.”…
“LASERS” is NOT my last and final album…
“LASERS” does NOT drop in 2009…
“LASERS” does NOT HAVE A RELEASE DATE YET…
“SOLAR MIDNITE” is NOT a single off of “LASERS”…Nor was it intended to be apart of “LASERS” project…
“SOLAR MIDNITE” was exclusively done at the request of the Twilight: New Moon Team to be apart of their film, motion picture soundtrack and as a vehicle to promote the film… NOT TO PROMOTE “LASERS”…
I produced “SOLAR MIDNITE”
I’m not SELLING OUT by doing a song for NEW MOON…
People thought I “SOLD OUT” when I did “Kick, Push”…
I LOVE “SOLAR MIDNITE”…
“SOLAR MIDNITE” is NOT a HIP-HOP RECORD…
I’ve done ROCK or ROCK-like records on all of my previous albums…i.e. ” The Instrumental” “Hello/Goodbye”…
I HAVE A PUNK BAND CALLED JAPANESE CARTOON WHICH I SING IN AND PRODUCE FOR…
I DO NOT GO BY “LUPE FIASCO” WHEN I DO SONGS WITH JAPANESE CARTOON…NOR PERCIVAL FATS!!!…I USE MY REAL NAME…
Enemy Of The State was NOT, NOT, NOT meant to be an album…so stop (to the ungrateful among you) TREATING it like one…
Enemy Of The State was short for a reason…I DONT LIKE TO WASTE SONGS…AND IT SHOULDN’T TAKE YOU THAT LONG TO PROVE YOUR NICE IF YOUR “REALLY” NICE…
ENEMY OF THE STATE WAS WATERED DOWN ON PURPOSE…BECAUSE ITS NOT AN ALBUM…
MOST OF ENEMY OF THE STATE WAS DONE IN ONE DAY…
IF YOU DONT HEAR IT FROM ME OR DJ BUSY IT MAY NOT BE THE COMPLETE TRUTH!!!
Its more noise out there and stupid rumor but I really don’t have the stamina…
peace, and just to set the record straight, love.
Mr Hudson is having a remix contest for his next single Anyone But Him. The song is from his debut solo album Straight No Chaser on Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. It’s an incredible album but is only (legally) available in the homeland (read UK) currently. It gets released here tomorrow according to wikipedia though I can’t find really any other information on it. Please find a way to get it and immerse yourself in heartache.
If you’ve got what it takes you could feature on Mr Hudson’s next single ‘Anyway But Him’, which is set to be released in the new year – Kanye West features on the album version but it could be YOU on the digital release.
Mr Hudson is looking for fresh UK MCs to record their original verses onto an instrumental of the track. Whoever lays down the sickest 16 bars will get the chance to hit the studio with Mr Hudson and will feature on the song which will be digitally released on March 15th.
1. Download the ‘Anyone But Him’ MP3 Instrumental for free by registering your email address in the box below.
2. Write & Record your original rap over the Instrumental.
3. Submit your finished track to Mr Hudson’s Dropbox (see Right)
The entries will be judged by Mr Hudson & the best verses will be posted on Mr Hudson’s website & online profiles. The winner will get to record the final track in a professional studio with Mr Hudson.
You can enter as many times as you like.
Anyway, the remix contest says it is for UK emcees, but I feel like if a rapper from elsewhere in the world submits something and it’s super ill…why would they deny it?? The original track features a Kanye West verse (which is dope in its own right and I don’t understand why they’d change it?..but)
So in the light of hope for the extension of personal expression…find the instrumental here and record your best translation of self absorbed jealousy in 16 bars.
Peace and al green love…because.
It’s actually a pretty long interview but i know you all dig lupe sort of like i dig lupe…so it’s interesting. really it’s mainly him talking about how he felt like he lost his passion (obviously, talking retirement and all) and recently got it back when going through his old mixtape catalogue. he feels like his old shit is still completely relevant and fresh today (which i would mostly agree with).
…it’s like, ‘yo, I was doing that back then?’ That record is almost 6 years old. And it’s still fresh, it still has meaning, and I forgot some of the lyrics so I’m like, ‘that metaphor was kind of crazy.’ It was just like, ‘am I doing that right now? Have I maintained that?…Why would I stray away and not come as hard on every record like I was doing before? That was real. Yeah, I’m gonna go back. I’m gonna go back into the studio and try to beat myself, try to take myself back to where I was.’
peace, and remember to smile, love.
he’s coming with a new mixtape…
any name ideas??
peace, and remember to smile, love.
lupe had his annual concert/show/premier on October 29 at Chicago Congress Theater. i wish this kind of thing was taken on the road, or featured on some hd network special. anyway..
their were 7 brief vignettes between performances in which Lupe speaks on important topics to him…very interesting

Song Of The Week: 1st Edition!
Here’s a great song, from a very good album, with my favorite music video right now!
Passion Pit – Sleepyhead
I love the use of samples, sped up. Plus the dudes voice is GREAT (you just might need to take a little time to get used to it)…i love it though. This is wonderful music, and it is what indie music is right now! Really a great song…enjoy!!!
Peace, and sleepyhead love.
btw…these Song Of The Week editions, if you don’t get it right away, that’s okay. the point is to provide you with songs you might or might not know about, but i think they’re both important and really rad for particular reasons.
soo….word the Fame Kills Tour (see here) is cancelled (see here). word?
gaga says it was mutual…sounds to me like it was more ‘ye backing out considering she’s still going on tour and he’s “taking a break.” we have reason to believe he’s working on a new album so…
still pretty lame though that we won’t be seeing ye on tour.
peace, and cancel the love.
Just thought I’d share this cause of how much i like it (and i support their music)…
Vodpod videos no longer available.
It’s the Roots’ first single called How I Got Over.
I feel like the images present a message like, whatever their struggle is, all these people relate in that they struggle “in these streets.” They all have to find ways to get over, to stay strong.
Simple, but the song is too. It’s raw, mature, gives the audience the message. I think it’s really shot well too.
Peace, and get over love.
peace and flashing lights love.
Drake feat. Eminem, Kanye West & Lil Wayne – Forever
Honestly…I think overall the vid is kind of boring. I dig certain parts but it moves a little slow for me.
I really don’t like Drake’s performance. Kanye’s is better, his pyro technics are pretty cool and I like how they die out toward the end. The LJ stuff thrown in is done pretty well in general (mainly just before wayne’s verse). I like Wayne’s performance enough. I like the red lighting, feels sort of drunk. Eminem’s performance is dope, even though not much happens…His verse is just way more interesting I guess. He just looks hungry when he spits…plus they feature Slaughterhouse (the crew…yes, including Royce!). Rumor has it the pieces are in place for a Slaughterhouse and Em track…I’d love to hear Royce and Em (bad meets evil) back together. I really like that last shot of Drake alot! It left a good taste in my eyesockets.

What ya’ll opinions??

Oh…and in case you missed the post…here’s InfeRed’s debut music video for The Higher…
via: LupEND Blog
Update: Interesting, Lupe talks about his record company holding him back during a concert and not even 10 hours after a video of that popped up on YouTube (the one I posted above), they (WMG) removed it.
You can’t tell me that this is because of copyright reasons because all of the other live clips are still online, they just don’t want people to know what Lupe said. I wrote it all down though, so check it below!
Album Nr. 3, LASERS – Love Always Shines Every-time Remember 2 Smile.
I picked Lasers because Lasers are life, Lasers shine, Lasers are the future, Lasers are progression, Lasers are revolutionary, Lasers are NOT Losers!
Lasers are different, Lasers are weird, Lasers are eclectic, but Lasers are NOT Losers! We’re winners that’s what we are, we’re winners! All the freaks, all the ones that don’t know what they are, all the indecisive ones, We’re Not Losers, We Are Lasers!
This next record (Shining Down) is the first record off the new album and it’s a testament, it’s a testament to what you can do when people are holding you back.
My record company did not push this record at all but yet in it’s first week we sold like 30.000 copies…don’t be scared to put records like this on the radio, this is what we need! It’s not what they want, it’s what they need!
They need to know that it’s people on top that recognize what they do, that feel what they do, that are where they’re from, who don’t really care about money and none like that, who don’t care about fame, who don’t care about being on the internet in front of some stupid-ass camera talking about what they wore this morning and what they had for breakfast yesterday. Fuck all that!
We Are Lasers and we shine goddammit, we shine and we gonna shine either with your support or without your support, we gonna shine muthafuckas and we gonna shine down on you!
More footage from the concert can be found HERE
Interesting…he’s speaking of Atlantic Records as his label not pushing the “Shining Down” record.
Good music will shine through whether or not the labels push it…he may not be getting the milllions Jay-Z is pumping into his shit, or that Interscope will put into Soulja Boy. But understand, WE the people have and are gaining control of the music. The people will hear what they want to hear.
That is why we are seeing the tabels turn, and fully independent labels and artists coming up and being equally successful. Trust in us.
Peace, and independence love.
i just wanted to say…
welcome to the new age of electro-hop.
open your minds.
peace, and evolution love
Here’s a short interview clip of Andre 3[stacks] talking the lists they make for the “hottest mcs.”
Vodpod videos no longer available.
“The thing about these hip-hop lists… it’s like, ‘How can you make a list because it’s so many people you leave off that a lot of people may disagree with?’ If you have 10 guys in a room [debating], that’s their list. It can’t be a world list, ’cause it’s a lot of people… I’m surprised Ludacris is never on there — he’s one of the dopest. Black Thought ain’t on there — he’s killin’ a lot of people. Then you got too many opinions. You have people that come up to me in the streets and say certain things. I’m like, ‘Well, that’s their opinion.’
I just say, ‘Man, everybody do your thing.’ I’d rather be #2 and everybody know I should be #1, than to be #1. Then I have somewhere to go.”
I like that he mentions very specifically BT and Luda. The new thing is doing these lists online (which is exactly what sparked this)…but then you’re just getting the opinion of internet nerds like you and i (assuming we both vote…ya see?). I’m with him on this topic…it’s very difficult to get an actual list…the problem is, right now, no one (or few) place(s) mark the population of hip hop heads. It should be a representation of anyone who may have an opinion, ya dig?
Anyways…how about Andre 3000 actually acknowledging Hip Hop! [chanting] NEW ALBUM! NEW ALBUM!….ok sorry.
Peace, and mc love!
Here’s a few new Jay-Z tracks from the Blueprint 3 coming September 11th, 2009.
Jay-Z feat. Kanye West – Haters (prod. by Kanye West)
This song is really dope. DOA though?? Ye’ def used some autotune on that sample (which sounds like he sampled himself). Hypocrite? Ok i’m sorry…cause the song is dope so i guess it doesn’t matter.
Jay-Z – Thank You (Prod. by Kanye West and No I.D.)
I like this beat aLOT (No I.D. is reeeaaalllyy doing work right now. See recent videos of him in the studio.) But the whole “Thank you thank you, far too kind” thing Jay does is super played to me. Whatever though. Decent song overall.
Jay-Z – Venus vs. Mars (prod. by Timbaland)
Eeek…actually the link died already. :-\ Sorry about that ya’ll. Here’s a youtube of the song. But honestly…I’m not even that big on it. Sounds like maybe Timbaland leaked this too…like…without permission. Disclaimer: It ain’t my fault!!!
Jay-Z – Ghetto Techno (not on BP3)
Not real big on this song. It’s just a little buzz song he released, but it has to compete with other (read better) buzz songs of his (see “Dear Summer”)
Also…here is the illest commercial i’ve seen in a while! If you know Jay-Z’s catalogue well, this is official…they (Rhapsody) reproduced all his album covers and made it (feel) seemless.
One more Jay update…he showed up at a Grizzly Bear show this weekend which is dope as eff! They are one my favorite new bands this year. If you haven’t heard GB yet, please google them. He mentioned it in an MTV interview saying
“When rock was the dominant force in music, rap came and said, ‘Y’all got to sit down for a second, this is our time.’ And we’ve had a stranglehold on music since then,” Jay said. “So I hope indie rock pushes rap back a bit, because it will force people to make great music for the sake of making great music.”
I like that…for the record. Here comes Indie rock!!
Peace, and hip hop art love!!!
It’s set up like a movie dream sequence. Should be interesting.
I LOOOOOOVE the artwork. Both of them.

1. In My Dreams (Cudder Anthem)
2. Soundtrack 2 My Life
3. Simple As…

5. Heart of A Lion (KiD CuDi Theme Music)
6. My World f. Billy Cravens
ACT 3 – TAKING A TRIP
7. Day N Nite (nightmare)
8. Sky Might Fall
9. Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part 1)
ACT 4 – STUCK
10. Alive (nightmare) f. RATATAT

ACT 5 – A NEW BEGINNING
14. Hyyerr f. Chip Tha Rapper
15. Up Up & Away (The Wake & Bake Song)
Supposed to be set up and feel like a movie. Hopefully no skits.
I think it’s a fail to put “Make Her Say” and “Day N Night” (the single version) on the album. He should revamp “Day N Night” and maybe put a new verse on, but “Make Her Say” should NOT be on there. We’ve already paid for the single, seen the video, it’s a nice little buzz internet song. For the most part, the album is going straight into iTunes anyways, so why would we want to pay for the song again? I’d much rather pay for a comparable song (or another one that is BETTER). I hope he reads this and makes an executive decision (ha!).
Still pumped for this none the less…but i’m givin him my thoughts when i meet the dude.
Peace, and man in the moon love.
Its that time again… Music Making Time (MMT) Im excited, a lot music in the works, its kinda scary… The Martians are working new material for “Nice & Clutch”… so fresh so clean lol, nah, but its some of that new new ish, smell me? The Studio is easily becoming one of my favorite places to be.. I honestly have a lot fun there, like a kid… Me, Max, E-Con & Wsquared had a magical studio session on the 4th of July Weekend down in B-Town… whipped up a lil crack for all them posers… two joints “Drumz” & “Instruments of Choice” But one of the most important things when it comes t making records is the vibes in the studio, you know… that connection between creative minds, also kn own as “synergy” is what molds everything together…Well, with that being said, here’s a few videos from the Big Homie Jay-Z who is also all about that “synergy.” Peace… Marz
KiD CuDi speaks about his upcoming first album, Man On The Moon: The End of the Day. Really profound things said in this interview. I’m telling you, this dude is about to make a classic. He is making that next shit.
Vodpod videos no longer available.
What i’m doing is trying to end the segregation between genres…and fusing them together and make one “super-song” so to speak. But just do it in a way that’s appropriate. Not just, (mockingly) “Oh man i want to do a record with ‘this band,’ because it’s a band, and we need to fuse hip hop with alternative rock because that’s ‘the new thing to to.’…No. That’s been done before. What’s the next shit?….
I know alot of people say, “Yo man my album’s going to be crazy, it’s going to be like nothing you’ve ever heard before.” Literally, i’m not lying. It’s the truth. You’re probably going to hear alot of people trying to duplicate these sounds man…I just hope people have an open mind because it’s some next level shit, for real.
I saw in an interview CuDi talking about how he’s making music for people who listen to all types of music. How there is of course people who listen to just acoustic, or just pop, or just soul, or JUST hip hop. But that he makes music for people (like him, sidebar: like me) who listen to all different types of music. To the music that inspires. To the great music being made whatever its medium. This is exactly the artist I’ve been waiting for…which is really fucking exciting as it should be for you if you truly listen to and dig all kinds of music. WOrd Up.
Peace, and great music love. JOIN THE MOVEMENT! END GENRE SEGREGATION!
Here’s a dope breakdown of Lupe Fiasco’s newest single Shining Down. It includes the lyrics and a breakdown of the verses / meaning. If you haven’t heard it, here it is on youtubes (but please iTunes it and download that shit)…
Look up in the sky.
Now look up in the sky.
Look up in the sky
You thought I was down.
You thought I was gone.
Thought I wasn’t around.
You thought I left you alone.
But look up in the sky.
Just look up in the sky.
See that I’m everywhere
Shining down on you.
Is that our little author?
Coming back; Humming his hymns, a little altered
Your attention, put back on the flow like the department of water
Taking off with the dough, like Little Walter
Chess? Yes. Baby, I’m Jerry Lawler
Rebel with a cause; outlaw with the lawyer
Judge, jury, like a loo;
Rap name Lupe, but my daddy named me Warrior
This is his memorial
The 1st verse finds Fiasco touching on his return because if you think about it, he has been on hiatus for a longer time period in comparison to the time between his 1st two albums. He’s back to put his twist back on hip hop and speak what needs to be spoken (“Coming back, humming his hymns, a little altered”, dope church references). He’s back to put our attention back on his flow like the water department’s attention is on the flow of water. He references Little Walter, a blues singer who used to be with Chess Records, but left (“taking off with the dough”) when it was discovered that Lou & Phil Chess, the owners of Chess Records, were allegedly stealing funds from their recording artists. It appears Lupe feels that Atlantic is doing the same (another Jay-Z attribute: subliminals). It would also seem that Lupe is staking his own claim as the king of this rap game (Jerry Lawler was a wrestler, quite frequently known as “The King”, which also ties into the “chess” line). The Jerry Lawler reference also ties into the next few lines as throughout his career, he was seen as a heel or bad guy (“rebel with a cause”) and he was known for going to court for his various divorces (“outlaw with the lawyer”). His rap name is “Lupe”, but his father named him “Wasulu”, which means “warrior”.
[Auto-Tuned] No, I ain’t that nigga trying to get a liquor line
When I be scripting lines, want this petition signed
It says I’m sick of dying, sick of this prison time
I really love my people, I’m sick of pimping mine [Auto-Tuned]
Now if we autotune that shit
We can hear the songs from that opera groomed fat bitch
Telling us not to pursue it, just to shoo (shoe) it like a blacksmith
We’re trapped, and moving round in circles like it’s chapstick
And that’s the same encircled way of thinking that we chat with
We’ll wrap this, around your, head like the bandanas Fabolous
Used to wrap his hats with
Rather be in F.E.D.S. instead of National Geographics
Well, I’m not having it
The first couple of lines are merged with auto-tune, which is Lupe’s way of saying that if important lines are immersed in auto-tune, the true message will never be discovered and it will be the end (the fat lady singing (“the opera-groomed fat bitch”)) of hip hop. His return is spawned by his desire to contribute to hip hop and wrap his message around minds (“like the bandanas Fabolous used to wrap his hats with”) unlike the music that has been around in his absence. It is his plan to rebel against these popular trends in rap music as he feels people would rather read FEDS magazine, a magazine that glorifies rappers and gives breakdowns on gangs & inner-city violence, instead of educational material like National Geographic.
So, I say hello and this is for the third time
To everybody out there who ain’t never heard mine
And if you have, then you know you ain’t never heard lying
Lu don’t move no cowards, you only heard lines
Not a facade cherisher, I’d rather have the scars
I don’t idolize America, I’m dancing with the stars
Uh huh. All of them? Yea, they are, too.
You look up and you see us shining down on you.
In the final verse, he reintroduces himself for the third time (3rd LP, 3rd verse of this record), speaking to new fans and those who have been with him since the start. He is not one to tell lies nor put them in his records. The next line can be interpreted in a variety of ways (with a subtle Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz) reference thrown in):
“Lu don’t move (moo), no cowards (cow-words/cow-herds), you’ve only heard (heard) lines (lions)”
The lion/lying theme throughout the song is also a subtle dedication to Lupe’s father, Gregory Hamza Jaco (“Hamza” means lion in Arabic and the last thing Lupe’s father told him was “not to lie, tell Wasulu to tell the truth”. He doesn’t hide nor accept facades as he’d rather have “the scars” (which also a play on the word “disguise”) and finally, he completes the verse (and song) with two references to two world famous talent competition (American Idol & Dancing With The Stars).
~ Signed, The Greatest Rapper Alive (Lupe Fiasco’s L.a.s.e.r.s., in stores this December)
Peace, and shining down on love.
